The football section was founded 1905 at Galatasaray Lycee by Ali Sami Yen, Asim Tevfik, Emin Bulent Serdaroglu, Celal Nihat, Cevdet Kaplakcioglu and Abidin Daver. The emblem was designed by Galatasaray student Ayetullah Emin (1923). Other sections are Basketball, Waterpolo, Volleyball, Swimming, Yachting, Horse riding. According to many sources, the red and yellow colors originates from a florist called 'Gul Baba', who used to give red and yellow roses to the Sultan. His building was located on exact spot where the current Galatasaray Beyoglu building is today...
